Welcome to Everett

Everett is the county seat for Snohomish County and the county's largest city.  It is served by Interstate 5 which runs south to Seattle and north to Bellingham and Canada.  US2 runs to the east from Everett into the scenic Cascade Mountain Range.

Everett is also a port city facing Possession Sound with access to Puget Sound, the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Pacific Ocean.  Its maritime connections are made noteworthy by the presence of U.S. Naval Station Everett and one of the largest marinas in the Puget Sound area.

While much of the city is dominated by commercial interests and the naval station, Everett has many parks and trails offering a variety of recreational opportunities.  The Walter E. Hall Park, Forest Park, and Langus Riverfront Park are the largest offering golf, skating, hiking, swimming and other popular sports. The Narbeck Wetland Sanctuary presents another opportunity for outdoor recreation.

The Future of Flight Aviation Center and Boeing Tour offers an introduction to the development and production of commercial jet aircraft.

The Everett Events Center, the Village Theatre at the Everett Performing Arts Center, the historic Everett Theatre, the Imagine Children's Museum, the Arts Council of Snohomish County are among the cultural attractions in the downtown area. The Everett Civic Auditorium hosts a variety of events throughout the year including performances by the Everett Symphony.

The Nishiyama Garden at Everett Community College is a traditional Japanese garden and one of the city's most scenic attractions.  The Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens are at the south end of Legion Park.

The Online Encyclopedia of Washington History has several articles on the history of Everett, including its founding, a historical overview, early rail service and Henry M. "Scoop" Jackson, a powerful U.S. Senator who was born and who died in Everett.  Use the Encyclopedia's search option for more articles about Everett and its people.

Everett has a good selection of lodging facilities convenient to Interstate 5.

The web sites for the City of Everett, Snohomish County Tourism, HeraldNet and the Everett Area Chamber of Commerce are additional sources for travel planning information.

Transportation:  Everett Station is a transit hub offering local and regional services. Community Transit (Snohomish County Public Transportation Benefit Area Corporation, CT) provides local and regional public transit services.

Airports:  Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and Bellingham International Airport are convenient to Everett and provide commercial passenger services.  Paine Field is home to the Boeing manufacturing plant and nearly 600 aircraft from small, single engine recreational aircraft to corporate jets and Boeing 747s.  It does not offer commercial passenger services.  It is west of Exit 186 (128th Street) on Interstate 5.
