Highways in Washington

Highway logs have been compiled for the following routes in Washington:

Interstate 5 is a major north-to-south highway that begins at the US-Canada border and runs southward through Washington to Oregon and California to the US-Mexico border.  It passes through Bellingham, Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, Centralia and Vancouver in Washington.

Interstate 82 connects Interstate 90 near Ellensburg in Washington with Interstate 84 near Hermiston in Oregon.  The highway passes through Yakima and Prosser and close to the Tri-Cities area before entering Oregon.

Interstate 90 is another major west-to-east highway running from its junction with Interstate 5 in Seattle, Washington through Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York to Boston, Massachusetts.  From Seattle, I-90 passes through Ellensburg, Moses Lake and Spokane.

Interstate 205 / The East Portland Freeway lies on the east side of the Portland Metropolitan Area from its northern junction with Interstate 5, north of Vancouver, WA, to its southern junction with I-5 south of Portland, OR.

Interstate 405:  This freeway bypasses Seattle to the east of Interstate 5.  The northern junction with I-5 is north of Seattle, and the southern junction is to the south of Seattle near the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

US97 is an important north-to-south route that runs from the Canadian border to the Columbia River in Washington and continues south through Oregon to northern California.  The highway passes through Wenatchee, Ellensburg (where it is merged with Interstate 90), Yakima (where it is merged with I-82), Toppenish and Goldendale.

US101 has its northern terminus at its junction with Interstate 5 in Olympia.  This official "northern" end of the highway is actually at the southern end of the highway's last section.  From Olympia, US101 runs north to Sequim, then west through Port Angeles after which it begins its southbound track passing through Aberdeen en route to the Astoria-Megler Bridge to Oregon and California.  The highway passes through impressive scenery around the Olympic Peninsula and through many communities of historical interest.

US197 runs north to south from its junction with state route WA14 in Washington through The Dalles to its southern junction with US97 in Oregon.

WA14 is adjacent to the north shore of the Columbia River from Vancouver at Interstate 5 to Plymouth at Interstate 82.
