Port Angeles

Port Angeles is in Clallam County at the northern end of the Olympic Peninsula facing the Strait of Juan de Fuca to the north and the Olympic Mountains to the south.  It is an important port city providing pilots for ships transiting the Puget Sound as well as ferry services to Victoria on Vancouver Island in British Columbia

The city of Port Angeles and the Chamber of Commerce have collections of useful maps on its web site to assist with travel planning and driving directions.

The City Pier at the north end of Lincoln Street on the waterfront trail offers excellent views of the city, its harbor and the Olympic Mountains.  The Arthur D. Feiro Marine Life Center is located at the city pier.

The Online Encyclopedia of Washington History has several articles on the history of Port Angeles and Clallam County and their people.  Use the search option for "Port Angeles."  The Clallam County Historical Society is also a good resource for historical information.  The Chamber of Commerce also has an article on the history of Port Angeles on its web site.  There are several buildings of historical and architectural interest in Port Angeles that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Port Angeles offers a number of cultural activities including the Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts, the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center

Transportation:

Airports:  The Port of Port Angeles owns and operates two airports in the area – William R. Fairchild International in Port Angeles and Sekiu Airport in the Sekiu/Clallam Bay area.

Ferries:  There are two ferry services operating between Port Angeles and Victoria in British Columbia:  Coho Ferry and the  Victoria Express

Public Transit:  Clallam Transit System operates bus routes throughout Clallam County and offers connections to Jefferson (County) Transit which provides regional bus services.
