Scenic and Historic Byways in Washington
The Strait
of Juan de Fuca National Scenic Byway runs parallel to the shoreline
along state route WA112 from US101, west of Port
Angeles, to Neah
Bay. The Cape
Flattery Tribal Scenic Byway overlaps part of the Strait of Juan de
Fuca Byway.
The Mountains
to Sound Greenway National Scenic Byway follows Interstate 90 between
Seattle and Thorp.
The Chinook
Scenic Byway is an All-American Road to the east of Olympia where it passes through Mount
Rainier National Park. The byway follows state route WA410 to the
east and south from Enumclaw, which is east of Lakeview
on Interstate 5 and Puyallup.
The
Palouse
Scenic Byway runs adjacent to
Pullman and is
an excellent way for a leisurely discovery of the surrounding scenic and
historic Palouse region.

Washington - The Official Site of Washington State Tourism has a
section devoted to the state's
25 official scenic byways. This site also has a very useful
interactive map to assist with travel planning and developing driving
directions.
Road
Conditions: The web site published by Washington's Department of
Transportation is an excellent source for highway conditions.
This site should be checked before any trips, especially from late fall
through winter and spring.
