Interstate 66 runs west-to-east from Interstate 81 in northern Virginia to Washington, DC Interstate 81 is a north-to-south highway running from the Canadian border north of Syracuse, New York through Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia to its junction with Interstate 40 in Tennessee. Interstate 85 runs from its junction with Interstate 65 in Montgomery in Alabama to the east and northeast through Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina to its junction with Interstate 95 in Petersburg in Virginia. Interstate 95 is the primary north-to-south route along the East Coast from the U.S.-Canada border in Maine through New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia to Miami, Florida. The highway passes through Alexandria, Fredericksburg, Richmond, Petersburg and Emporia in Virginia. I-495 / The Capital Beltway circles Washington, DC in Maryland and Virginia.
