Canberra and the Australian Capital Territory

Canberra is the capital of Australia and within the Australian Capital Territory.  It is southwest of Sydney, within the state of New South Wales.

The Canberra Tourism web site is an excellent site with an extensive amount of information for visitors.

The Australian Academy of Science, near the center of Canberra, is on the National Heritage List.

The National Trust of Australia (ACT) administers properties in the Australian Capital Territory that are an important part of the territory's heritage.

Canberra Fairbairn Airport (CBR)  is approximately 5 miles/8 km from Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory. The airport's official web site is a good source of information for flights and other airport particulars.

The National Museum of Australia is located in Canberra and its web site is an excellent source of historical information.  It also has information about Canberra that will be of interest to visitors.

The Royal Australian Mint in Canberra produces coins used in Australia and other countries in the Pacific region.

The Australian National Botanic Garden is a major attraction in Canberra that is devoted to the cultivation, study and promotion of Australian native plants.
