Language Study and International Travel Planning

Learning the languages of people in other countries should be considered an important part of travel planning for international destinations even if this means only learning a few essential phrases.

Some embassy web sites offer introductory language sources.  Links to embassies web sites are provided on many of the country pages of this web site.

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is a world-renowned source for reliable news which is made available in a variety of languages.  Through this site and those of national newspapers intending travelers can learn which words must be learned to understand news reports.

Foreign Language Study:

International travel and viewing of web sites often mean coping with or learning a foreign language.  There are several excellent web sites to help people in this regard.

These web sites have excellent on-line dictionaries; some provide assistance with translation:  Dictionary.com, Ectaco Online Dictionaries, Free Translation.com, Freedict.com, Language Box, Word Reference and YourDictionary.  TV5 Monde (France) has an excellent collection of dictionaries on its web site.

We recommend that you select the dictionary that you prefer and mark it as a favorite site for easy and quick access when you are surfing.

These web sites can assist with learning a foreign language:  Foreign-Languages.com, i Love Languages, Languages On The Web, TravLang and YourDictionary.
