London Airports

Five airports are considered to be London airports; although, four are located outside London.

London - Heathrow (LHR) is one of the world's major airports offering flights to North America and other continents in addition to regional and European destinations.  It is located 17 miles/28 km to the west of central London and is linked to an extensive infrastructure of ground  transportation routes and systems to connect passengers with other points.

London - Gatwick (GTW) is another major world airport offering a similar but slightly less extensive range of flights.  This airport has an advantage in being less congested than Heathrow.  It is located 28 miles/45 km to the south of central London and has a good supply of ground transportation services to reach other points in the area.

London - Stansted (STA) is located about 36 miles/58 km northeast of central London providing regional and European services.  Direct ground transportation to London is available in addition to regional rail and bus services.

London - Luton (LTN) is about 35 miles/59 km north of London providing regional and European services.

London City Airport (LCY ) is closest to central London and provides regional and European services.

London Biggin Hill Airport is in the London Borough of Bromley, about 12 miles/19 km southeast of central London.  The airport provides services for corporate, general aviation and charter aircraft.

Visit the airport pages for England, Scotland, Wales and the Channel Islands for airport locations in these areas and additional information.
