Five airports are considered to be London airports; although, four are located outside London. London - Heathrow (LHR) is one of the world's major airports offering flights to North America and other continents in addition to regional and European destinations. It is located 17 miles/28 km to the west of central London and is linked to an extensive infrastructure of ground transportation routes and systems to connect passengers with other points. London - Gatwick (GTW) is another major world airport offering a similar but slightly less extensive range of flights. This airport has an advantage in being less congested than Heathrow. It is located 28 miles/45 km to the south of central London and has a good supply of ground transportation services to reach other points in the area. London - Stansted (STA) is located about 36 miles/58 km northeast of central London providing regional and European services. Direct ground transportation to London is available in addition to regional rail and bus services. London - Luton (LTN) is about 35 miles/59 km north of London providing regional and European services. London City Airport (LCY ) is closest to central London and provides regional and European services. London Biggin Hill Airport is in the London Borough of Bromley, about 12 miles/19 km southeast of central London. The airport provides services for corporate, general aviation and charter aircraft.
