Doncaster

Doncaster is in South Yorkshire in northeastern England where it is a major railway junction providing connections throughout England.  Visit the Doncaster Metropolitan Borough web site for visitor information

Creswell Crags, home of the Ice Age Hunter, is south of Doncaster.

Roche Abbey is convenient to Sheffield and Doncaster.

Airports:  Robin Hood Airport is about seven miles to the east of central Doncaster.  There is a shuttle service between the airport and the rail station in Doncaster.

Railways:  Central Trains serve the Midlands and East Anglia in England and extend westward to Wales.  Major cities include Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Norwich, Chester and Cardiff.  There is also a connecting line to London-Stansted airport.  The Midland Mainline operates from London to the East Midlands and Yorkshire.  It serves York, Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham, Derby and Leicester among other destinations. There are connecting services from London-Luton Airport and East Midlands Airport near Loughborough to this line.  Northern Rail operates between both coasts in northern England and in the North Midlands.  The network also extends northwards to Glasgow in Scotland and southwards to Liverpool, Manchester (and Manchester airport), Chesterfield, Lincoln and Grimsby in England.  Stations in northeastern England include Newcastle, Durham, Sunderland, Middlesborough and Whitby.
