Because of its many places of historical and cultural interest and its many international commercial activities, Europe is one of the most heavily traveled parts of the world. Accordingly, it has many transportation systems and services that are among the most efficient. TravelData21 is building transportation and other travel-related information for each of the European countries listed in the navigation bar to the left. Some countries, especially in Western Europe, already have large amounts of content to meet the needs of potential travelers, and we are continuing to add more information to all European nations. Choose the link for your country of interest. Several web sites are available with information that applies to the continent or to some of its regions. They are listed below for your convenience. Europa - The European Union On Line is a multi-lingual web site with an extensive amount of information about this major political organization. The Euro (€) is the new currency that was adopted by 12 of the member nations of the union in February 2002. The Visit Europe web site is provided by the European Travel Commission and is the official gateway on line for visitors to Europe. Introductory travel information for 30 countries can be obtained from this site. TravelData21 has also provided links to the official web sites for tourism for these countries for more detailed information. The European Umbrella Organization for Geographic Information (EUROGI) compiles geographic information for all states in Europe. The web site has links to national geographic information organizations. Airports: TravelData21 plans to list the location of all airports in Europe and around the world and to build pages for these airports with data of interest to travelers. Links will be provided for official airport web sites when they are available. Use the navigation bar to the left and choose your country of interest and select the airport link provided in the navigation bar. In cases of smaller countries with a limited number of airports, these airports are listed on the country's home page. Rail Transportation: Europe has an extensive rail network composed of several national and private companies that provide services to regions within a country, nationally and internationally. The European Railway Server is a primary source of information regarding the major rail companies in Europe and many other rail-related enterprises. For travel within or from a country use the appropriate country link to the left and choose the available option for railways where provided. Many of these national web sites have timetable services for trains within their countries and to other European destinations. Ground Transportation: Information about other ground transportation options - buses, subways, etc. will be provided under the appropriate country links to the left. Ferry Services: Europe has a large number of ferry routes and we will list all routes of significance, especially between one country and another. Limited information about local ferry services within countries is available on this site. Choose your country of interest from the navigation bar to the left, then choose the link for ferry services. The Cruise Europe web site has information about cruise ships and their ports of call in Europe. Travel Advisories: Travelers should check the web sites on our international page prior to traveling to Europe to determine if any advisories apply. Human Rights: Human rights issues can be an important part of forming an understanding of conditions in world regions and countries in those regions. The Human Rights Watch web site is one of the most respected sources of information in this area.
