The Margaree-Lake Ainslee River System and the Shelburne River have been designated as Canadian Heritage Rivers in Nova Scotia.
The railway stations at Amherst, Annapolis Royal, Halifax, Hantsport and Wolfville have been designated as Heritage Railways Stations in Nova Scotia.
Old Town Lunenburg (see also Parks Canada) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Town of Lunenburg was formally established in 1753 as the first British Colonial settlement in Nova Scotia outside of Halifax. Lunenburg is about 56 miles/90 km (by road) west of Halifax.
