This latter section has a generous amount of information to assist in travel planning and is multilingual - English, French and German. The official web site for the Department of Tourism and Culture has a generous amount of information (English, French, German) for visitors. The Transportation Department has information on ferries, highways and other systems in the province.
The Margaree-Lake Ainslee River System and the Shelburne River have been designated as Canadian Heritage Rivers in Nova Scotia. The railway stations at Amherst, Annapolis Royal, Halifax, Hantsport and Wolfville have been designated as Heritage Railways Stations in Nova Scotia. Old Town Lunenburg (see also Parks Canada) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Town of Lunenburg was formally established in 1753 as the first British Colonial settlement in Nova Scotia outside of Halifax. Lunenburg is about 56 miles/90 km (by road) west of Halifax. |
