Capital:  Kathmandu

Airports:  Kathmandu (KTM) Tribhuvan International Airport has international services.  Other airports with domestic services include Bhairahawa, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Nepalgunj and Pokhara.  Other airports are located at Bhadrapur, Bharatpur, Bhojpur,  Jomosom, Lukla, Meghauli, Phaphlu, Ramechhap, Rumjatar and Tumlingtar but they have limited services and are subject to closure during certain periods of the year.  Weather conditions are frequently disruptive of flight schedules in this region of Asia.  The Visit Nepal web site has information on domestic flights.

Currency:  The rupee is the basic monetary unit.  For the current rate of exchange visit the Olson and Anderson web site.

Time Zones:  Current local time. Standard time is five hours and 45 minutes ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
