The Yamagata Prefecture is in the Tohoku Region which is at the northern end of Honshu, Japan's main island, to the north of Tokyo.

The Yamagata Museum of Art is one of the prefecture's cultural attractions.

The Bandai Asahi National Park is in the Niigata and Yamagata prefectures.
Airport: Yamagata Airport and Shonai Airport have flights to other domestic airports. Sendai Airport in the adjacent Miyagi prefecture is also convenient.
