Welcome to the Akita Prefecture

The Akita Prefecture is in the Tohoku Region which is at the northern end of Honshu, Japan's main island, to the north of Tokyo.

The Akita Convention and Visitors Bureau has information in English about the city and its attractions for visitors.

The Shirakami-Sanchi has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The Towada-Hachimantai National Park is in the Akita and Aomori prefectures.

Airport: Akita Airport and Odate-Noshiro Airport have flights to several other domestic airports.  Akita Airport has flights to Seoul, South Korea
