Welcome to the Kyoto Prefecture

Kyoto Prefecture is located in the Kansai Region is the southwestern area of Honshu, Japan's main island.

The Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto (Kyoto, Uji and Otsu Cities) have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.  This list of fees for visiting Kyoto temples also has links to introductory information about the temples.

The National Museum of Modern Art is an important cultural addition that stands in marked contrast to much of the city's ancient history.
