Welcome to the Hiroshima Prefecture The Hiroshima Prefecture is part of the Chugoku Region which is located at the southwestern end of the island of Honshu. The official web site for the prefecture has an English version with information about the prefecture including tourism and transportation. The city of Hiroshima is on the south coast of the prefecture, adjacent to the Seto Inland Sea. Its official web site has pages in English with a variety of information about the city, its memorials and activities in support of peace and opposition to nuclear weapons. The Hiroshima Peace Memorial (Genbaku Dome) and the Itsukushima Shinto Shrine have been declared as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. See also Itsukushima Shinto Shrine and Itsukushima Shrine. The Setonaikai National Park is at the western end of the Seto Inland Sea to the south of Hiroshima and Yamaguchi prefectures. Airports: There are two airports that serve Hiroshima - Hiroshima Airport and Hiroshima-nishi Airport. Both are close to the city. |
