Jaipur (Jaiphur) is the state capital. Rajasthan is in the Great Indian Desert in northwestern India where it is bounded to the west by Pakistan and the Thar Desert. The Indian state of Punjab is to the north, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh are to the east, Madhya Pradesh is to the southeast, and Gujarat is to the south.
