Welcome to Meghalaya

Shillong is the state capital.  Meghalaya is in the northeastern corner of India.  Assam surrounds it to the west, north and east, while Bangladesh is to the south.

The web portal for Meghalaya has a good selection of information about tourism, culture and heritage in the state in addition to government matters.  The Department of Arts and Culture provides a very good introduction to these aspects of Meghalaya on its web site.

The state of Assam lies on the northern and eastern border of Meghalaya, and Bangladesh is to the south and west.

Airport:  Shillong (Umroi) Airport is about 19 miles / 30 km from Shillong.  Borjhar Airport in Assam can also be used for destinations in Meghalaya.  Both airports handle domestic flights.
