The National Capital Territory of Delhi

The National Capital Territory of Delhi is in the north-central area of India.  It is adjacent to the border between Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

The official web site for the National Capital Territory of Delhi has extensive links to area related to government affairs and to topics of interest for visitors.  There is also information about calculation of fares for taxis and auto rickshaws.  The Metrorail site has information about this urban transportation system.

The Delhi Tourism site is an excellent resource for discovering places of interest in an around the city and for planning travel to them.  The web site for the Department of Art, Culture and Language also has information that will be of interest to some visitors.

The Delhi Transport Corporation provides bus services to the region and beyond.  It also operates sightseeing buses to major tourist attractions.  Their web site is a very good resource for planning economical travel in the area.  DTC also operates interstate services to the surrounding states of Haryana, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pardesh and Uttaranchal.

The National Railway Museum web site is an excellent source of information about the extensive rail systems that have played an important role in India's recent history.  The museum has exhibits of historic equipment and models of trains.  It is one of Delhi's most popular attractions.

Humayun's Tomb and Qutb Minar and its Monuments have been declared as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.   The Red Fort is on a tentative list for World Heritage Status by UNESCO.

Airports:  Indira Gandhi International Airport is on the south side of the city of New Delhi.  Palam Airport is used for domestic flights.

The Delhi Metro Rail has information about its system and a useful map to assist with travel planning.
