Welcome to Bihar

Patna is the capital of the state.  Bihar is in the northeastern area of India where it adjoins Uttar Pradesh to the west, Jharkhand to the south, and the northern area of West Bengal to the east.  Nepal is to the north.

The official web portal for the state of Bihar has links to an extensive list of government departments and agencies.  The web site for the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation has a considerable amount of information about places of interest, transportation and a useful map to assist with travel planning.

The Mahabodhi Temple Complex at Bodh Gaya has been declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.  The Tomb of Sher Shah Suri at Sasaram is on a tentative list for World Heritage Status by UNESCO.

Airports:  Gaya International Airport handles international and domestic flights.  The airports at Patna and Raxaul cater to domestic flights.  They are all within close proximity of their respective cities.
