Heilongjian, Jilin and Liaoning are part of the northwestern region known as Dongbei and formerly referred to as Manchuria.
The Wudalianchi Scenic Spots have been submitted for World Heritage status to UNESCO.
Airports: There are airports at Harbin (Taiping International), Jiamusi and Mudanjiang.
