The official web site for the Henan government is only in Chinese. The Henan Province Tourism Service Network web site has an English version and is a very useful resource for planning travel to and in the province. The Longmen Grottoes have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Great Wall in Liaoning, Jilin, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Ningxia, Gansu, Xinjiang, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan and Qinghai provinces has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The 3,300-year-old Yin Ruins located in Anyang City in central China's Henan Province, dubbed the root of Chinese culture, was included on the World Heritage list on July 13, 2006 at the 30th Session of the World Heritage Committee (WHC) in Lithuania, a day after the giant panda habitat in Sichuan Province. China now has 33 sites. (China Internet News Service) The Songshan Area has been submitted for World Heritage status to UNESCO. Airports: There are airports at Luoyang, Nanyan, Xinyang and Zhengzhou. |
