Welcome to Chongqing Shi Province

The official web site for the Chongqinq government has Chinese and English versions.  The English version is mostly oriented towards economic development, but is has introductory information about the province.

The Yangtze Gorges national scenic spots which start at Baidicheng in Fengjie County, Chongqing, Sichuan Province and end at Nanjin Pass in Yichang, Hubei Province have been submitted for World Heritage status to UNESCO.

Jinfushan Scenic Spot, in Sichuan and Chongqing, has been submitted for World Heritage status to UNESCO.

Local Treasure Off the Beaten Track:

Bob and Stephanie Tadjiki from Bend, Oregon visited Chongqing to pick up a daughter they had adopted from a local orphanage.  In the process they met Kenny, an artist who is devoting his talents to teaching children in orphanages how to paint and prepare themselves for future careers.  This led to Bob and Stephanie discovering the exceptional scrolls and paintings created by teenagers in the orphanage and to

establishing a business-cum-orphanage-support operation.  Visit their Scrolls From China web site to learn more about this story and view examples of the artists' works.

One of the more popular tour routes for modern visitors to China follows the Yangzi (Yangtze) River from Shanghai through Jiangsu, Anhui, Hubei, Chongqing and Sichuan provinces.  Shorter cruises take in a stretch of the river between Wuhan in Hubei Province and Chongqing that includes the Three Gorges Dam.

Airport:  The official web site for Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport is only in Chinese.
